David M. Lewis is a state certified (Certification No. TX-1321307-G) real estate appraiser and consultant with Lewis Realty Advisors in Houston, Texas.
Lewis is a member and former governor and chairman of the Gulf Coast chapter of the Society of Real Estate Counselors (CRE) and member and past President of the Houston Chapter of the Appraisal Institute (MAI, SRA). He is also a member of the National Association of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and the Houston Board of Realtors.
In his fifty years in real estate, Lewis has valued residential, apartment, office building, shopping centers, vacant land, conservation easements, development rights, transportation rights, pipeline easements, remainder damage, mineral rights, and gas storage throughout Texas. His consulting assignments have included acquisitions and dispositions, asset management, development/redevelopment, expert witness, facilities planning, financing/joint ventures, investment analysis, land assembly, lease negotiation, location/relocation analysis, management counseling, property management, real estate valuation, economic feasibility, and market studies. His work has involved all types of real property, including but not limited to commercial, industrial, historical, and special purpose.
In the 90’s, Mr. Lewis acted as a consultant for Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) in the purchase of 158-miles of transportation corridors from Southern Pacific Railroad Company and received a certificate from METRO for his service. From 2006 – 2009, Lewis managed Lewis Realty Advisors’ team contracted to provide appraisal review and counseling services for METRO’s expansion of light rail facilities. For this project, Lewis provided valuation counseling to METRO’s management, engineers and planners in their effort to develop and implement transit facilities while minimizing potential impacts to private property.
He has been qualified and testified as an expert witness concerning real estate valuation and has been quoted by Fortune Magazine, Forbes Magazine, The Houston Chronicle, The Houston Business Journal, and The Realty News Report.
