Biographical Data
Mr. Weiss is a Texas state certified (TX-1339847-G) appraiser and senior real estate consultant with Lewis Realty Advisors in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Mr. Weiss received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, after which he served in the United States Air Force. During that time he completed the work towards a Master of Business Administration degree. Following the completion of his service, Mr. Weiss began his career in commercial real estate appraisal with LRA.
Scope of Professional Assignments
Mr. Weiss’ experiences with appraisal, consulting, and expert witness testimony have included a variety of assignments involving improved and unimproved real property throughout Texas. His assignments have included valuation and analysis of properties for the purposes of condemnation, estate tax planning, real estate transactions, litigation, ad valorem tax appeal, and studies of economic feasibility and marketability of new developments. Specific property types analyzed include commercial retail and office properties, restaurants, industrial properties, ranch and agricultural land, residential subdivision developments, single- and multi-family residential, and vacant land.
Additionally, Mr. Weiss previously served in the capacity of review appraiser for right-of-way acquisition by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), overseeing the appraisal process for property acquisition in three active corridors. For approximately three years, Mr. Weiss had the opportunity to review appraisals of various property types, including vacant land, single-family residences, convenience stores and fuel service stations, single- and multi-tenant retail properties, motels, industrial buildings and special use facilities such as churches, youth centers and funeral homes. In the role of METRO review appraiser, Mr. Weiss was involved in all aspects of appraisal and acquisition, from the selection and contracting of appraisers for each parcel, to consulting METRO in negotiations with property owners and preparing appraisers to testify in eminent domain proceedings.
